Sturgeon Composite High School offers the Learning Towards Independence (LTI) program, formerly known as "Challenge". As part of LTI, individual program plans are developed for each student in consultation with parents and students.
The focus of the program is practical academics, vocational skills and skills for independent living. Courses include modified Knowledge & Employability English and math, vocational skills, living skills and complementary courses in the regular stream. Students are integrated into complementary courses on an individual basis that recognizes student interests, course availability and necessary supports. Students may take courses in the regular stream for credit or audit. It is a flexible, non-credit program that leads to a Certificate of School Completion at the end of high school.
Students must be recommended for this program through the direction of Student Services.
