Regular Registration

Arrival at the School

During the Regular Registration Process, grade 10 students will arrive at the school on August 31st. Please note that there will be no grade 11's or grade 12's on this day as they register on September 1rst. This day is set out specifically for grade 10's.

Although most students at this stage have already received information about registration earlier in the spring and have selected their courses, we still welcome new students that we may be meeting for the very first time.

Depending upon arrival time at the school, students will be directed to begin the day in one of our two gymnasiums and proceed to the other gym when done.

Registration Process

In the south gymnasium, students will work their way through the actual registration process and will be given:

The final step in this process requires students to have their photo taken in order to be issued their Student ID/library card.

Orientation Presentation

In the north gymnasium, students will be involved in an orientation to Sturgeon Composite High School which will include:
  • an introduction to key people at the school (i.e. the school principal, vice principals, school counselors, president of SRC, our SRO, the grade 10 coordinator,....)
  • an overview of the school (main office, student services, library, cafeteria,...)
  • a review of school expectations (attendance, dress code, parking, cell phones...)
  • an overview of what a regular school day looks like

Lastly, the course programming required to get a high school diploma or certificate will also be reviewed. Click here to see the power point presentation given during the orientation.
